Creating the Bridal Glow

Finding the dress,
people and experiences
that make you feel
the most like yourself.

FEATURING THE GLO HOUSE

MOVEMENT. FRIENDSHIP. A LITTLE GLOW. • Photography: Hannah Sessions Photography

There’s a lot of pressure that comes with being a bride.

Find the dress. Book the venue. Build the timeline. Plan the bachelorette. Schedule the appointments. Get the spray tan. Do the workout. Drink the water. Somehow get enough sleep.

And through all of it, you’re also supposed to be enjoying every second.

The truth is, being engaged is exciting, but it can also feel like one very long checklist. Somewhere between planning the wedding and preparing for the wedding, it’s easy to forget that this is a season of your life you’re allowed to simply enjoy.

Bridal confidence doesn’t come from having every detail figured out or feeling perfectly put together. Sometimes, it comes from giving yourself permission to have fun again.

Your Wedding Dress Should Feel Like You

Wedding dress shopping can bring its own kind of pressure.

There are opinions, expectations, inspiration photos and an endless stream of images showing brides looking effortlessly perfect. It can make something that should feel exciting suddenly feel like another decision you have to get “right.”

But your wedding dress isn’t supposed to transform you into someone else.

It should feel like the best version of you.

The goal isn’t to walk into your appointment already feeling completely confident. Sometimes the confidence comes afterward — when you find a silhouette you never expected to love, when your stylist understands exactly what you were trying to describe, or when you look in the mirror and realize you don’t want to change a thing.

That’s part of why the experience matters just as much as the dress.

Let Getting Ready Be Part of the Fun

There will always be something else to plan before a wedding. But some of those “to-dos” can become the moments you end up remembering most.

A Pilates class becomes a morning spent with your bridesmaids. Getting your spray tan becomes an excuse for a girls’ night. Your final wedding dress fitting becomes one of those little moments when it finally starts to feel real.

The beauty of this season is that getting ready doesn’t have to be separate from celebrating. When you surround yourself with the right people and experiences, even the practical parts can feel special.

It’s less about getting everything done perfectly and more about finding little ways to enjoy the getting ready part, too.

The Vendor You Didn’t Know You Needed

That idea is exactly what makes The Glo House feel different.

Founded by Kit, The Glo House takes things that might normally live on your bridal checklist — like Pilates and spray tanning — and turns them into experiences.

Instead of squeezing another appointment into an already packed week, imagine gathering your bridesmaids for a Pilates class, spending time together and having your spray tans done afterward.

She comes to you, sets everything up and creates an experience around something you probably already planned on doing anyway.

You’re technically checking things off your wedding list, but it doesn’t feel like a task. It feels like a girls’ night.

When so much of wedding planning revolves around schedules, deadlines and decisions, having vendors who understand how to make the process enjoyable can completely change how the months leading up to your wedding feel.

The Bridal Glow: A Q&A with Kit of The Glo House

There’s more to the perfect bridal spray tan than booking an appointment the night before your wedding. From finding the right shade to coordinating your tan with your dress and makeup, we asked Kit of The Glo House to answer some of the questions brides should know before the big day.

How many days before the wedding should a bride get a spray tan?

Ideally, a bride should schedule her spray tan two to three days before the wedding. This gives the color time to fully develop and allows for the initial rinse and a proper shower before the big day.

It also means your glow is already developed for the rehearsal dinner, welcome party and other pre-wedding celebrations.

Should every bride do a spray tan trial before the wedding?

For most brides, yes. A trial helps determine the most flattering shade, see how your skin reacts to the solution and make any adjustments to the color or rinse time before the wedding.

Ideally, schedule your trial a few weeks to a month before the wedding. If you regularly get spray tans and already know your preferred solution, rinse time and trusted spray tan artist, a trial may not be necessary.

How do you choose the right shade for a bride?

Choosing the right shade depends on the bride’s desired look, natural skin tone and undertones.

We also take into account her personal preferences, wedding-day makeup, dress color and overall bridal style to create a customized glow that looks natural and flattering both in person and in photos.

The goal is to enhance her natural complexion, not overpower it.

Should a bride bring makeup inspiration or talk with her makeup artist before her tan?

Absolutely. We recommend scheduling your bridal spray tan trial during the same week as your makeup trial whenever possible.

This allows your makeup artist to see how your skin looks with your tan and adjust your makeup shades and overall look accordingly. Bringing inspiration photos and communicating with your makeup artist ahead of time can also help ensure your tan and makeup complement each other beautifully on your wedding day.

If a bride has never had a spray tan before, what would you want her to know?

“You’re not going to be orange. We don’t want to change how you look, just enhance the beautiful body you already have.”

For a bride trying a spray tan for the first time, that might be the most important thing to remember. The goal isn't to walk out looking like a different person. It’s to create a glow that still feels like you.

You built The Glo House around helping women feel confident. What does confidence mean to you?

“To me, confidence is feeling comfortable and beautiful in your own skin. It’s not about looking a certain way or meeting anyone else’s standards; it’s about feeling like the best version of yourself.”

And maybe that is what the bridal glow should really be about.

Protecting Your Glow — and Your Gown

Of course, feeling confident also means not spending your wedding morning worrying about your spray tan transferring onto your dress.

Kit recommends planning your other beauty appointments around your tan. Nails, waxing and shaving should be completed at least 48 hours beforehand, while facials, exfoliating treatments, microdermabrasion and Botox should ideally happen at least five days before your tan, with timing confirmed by your individual provider.

After your appointment, avoid sweating, showering, swimming and tight clothing until your initial rinse, following the specific instructions from your spray tan artist. Once you’ve rinsed and showered as directed, moisturizing and avoiding harsh exfoliation can help preserve your color throughout the wedding festivities.

And what about the white dress?

A spray tan can transfer if cosmetic bronzers haven’t been fully rinsed or if the skin becomes wet or sweaty. For brides, The Glo House recommends clear or clear/blend solutions to help reduce the amount of cosmetic bronzer that could transfer while still creating a natural-looking glow.

It’s another reason why timing your tan a few days before the wedding — rather than the night before — matters.

Wear the Dress. Enjoy the Moment.

There is no version of being a bride where every detail will be completely perfect.

Something will change. Something won’t go exactly according to plan. There will probably be a moment when your wedding checklist feels much longer than you expected.

But there will also be Pilates classes with your friends. Spray tan nights. Dress fittings. Champagne after appointments. Group chats. Photos you didn’t know someone was taking. And ordinary little moments that end up becoming part of the story.

So wear the dress.

Book the spray tan if it makes you feel good. Take the Pilates class because you enjoy it. Invite your friends. Make a night out of something that could have just been another appointment.

Because preparing for your wedding shouldn’t be about changing yourself before you walk down the aisle.

It should be about finding the dress, people and experiences that make you feel the most like yourself.

Your engagement doesn’t have to be something you rush through on the way to your wedding day.

You’re allowed to enjoy becoming a bride, too.

Here’s to your next chapter.

When it comes to San Diego County, it does not do “just fine” as a wedding backdrop. Between cliffside bluffs, oceanfront terraces and hundred-year-old estates, this is one of the most photogenic wedding markets in the country — which also means it is one of the most demanding when it comes to what you wear in front of it. A gown that reads beautifully in a ballroom can go flat on an open lawn. A dress built for stillness can fight you on a windy cliff. Choosing your venue and choosing your gown are not two separate decisions; they are one decision, made in two parts. If you're a couture bride shopping for a fall or winter 2026 wedding, here are ten venues worth putting on your shortlist first: La Valencia Hotel, Scripps Seaside Forum, Fairmont Grand Del Mar, Rancho Valencia Resort, The Inn at Rancho Santa Fe, L’Auberge Del Mar, The Lodge at Torrey Pines, Hotel del Coronado, Alila Marea Beach Resort, and Park Hyatt Aviara. Below, we break down each by neighborhood, along with what kind of gown belongs there. At Archive Bridal, we work with couture brides across San Diego County — from La Jolla estates to North County resorts — and this list reflects what we've actually seen work on real wedding days, not just what photographs well on a wedding blog.
